Pobody’s Nerfect…
I hope people wise up next year & realize that Valentine’s Day isn’t about online rose delivery.
If I had a million dollars I wouldn’t buy property. I would just convert every Restoration Hardware store to my home(s).

A Motivating Factor, Nostalgia
When 4squareand7yearsago (now, @Timehop) first debuted at @Foursquare’s Hack Day almost a year ago I was immediately eager to test it out. Just as fast as I was interested, I fell in love with what these guys were doing. A year later I’ve sinced linked my Foursquare, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram account to this service. Serious props to the talented group at Timehop, @jwegener,...

#EarlyAdopterProblems
In the past week, I almost made the switch to an iPhone…
My Moto Droid 1 is still working. Albeit a bit sluggish at times, it gets the job done. However, my only gripe with it is its camera. It sounds lame because I really love my SLR camera and want to take some photography classes in 2012 and invest in some accessories (yada, yada, yada) but I love capturing those unique moments that...

Google Maps (6.0) + Google Wallet = Match Made in...
Imagine utilizing the recent Google indoor map while shopping at a retail shop (eg. MACY’S). Now, you’re searching for a gift for a very special person. You’re presumably running Android, since that’s the only OS that’s running this feature, and next thing you know you get an alert as you’re walking past the electronics isle. You check your notification panel...

The New Food Truck?
I came across a recent article of how Threadless (the popular t-shirt website) is testing a t-shirt vending machine all around Chicago. I really like this idea. If I can easily buy a Wii, a SONY PSP, or an actual iPod in airports for my travels, why couldn’t I quickly buy a t-shirt from a vending machine? Vending machines are here to stay, and I can see vending machines proliferating even...

The Blinking Light
It’s funny how the notification light can be a sign of good news, or a sign of bad news. It’s the good news you’ve been waiting for, or the bad news you wish you could avoid. I’m quite surprised that Apple never incorporated it, though I’m sure someone with years of experience had a good one.

Locacquaintances (again)
i kinda like the initial @color app before it’s recent incarnation. something about “locacquaintances” seems untapped and intriguing. perhaps its a concept left best for gaming, i guess.
there’s already a great evolution around getting to know who we already know a lot more, that human discovery is yet to catch up.
music discovery, however, is pretty neat.

Messing with Serendipity
New location-based social mobile app (say that in one breath) Foreca.st allows you to setup a place & time of where you’ll be and then broadcasts the message to your Foreca.st & Foursquare friends. That’s pretty neat, and I suppose since Foursquare has killed the “Shout” feature, this kinda brings it back and makes it relevant since it’s about location.

Android User Using an iPhone
Day 1: The most immediate thing I noticed was the lack of a notification light I’ve grown accustomed to on my droid. While it might seem like a minor feature, it’s still a feature that Android & Blackberry phones have which I like. I hate having to turn on the phone to see if I have a message. While Apple has the GUI nailed solid, the ergonomics & simple hardware UI features is...

You. Shall. Not. Pass. ...unless you like me...
Facebook ‘Like’ gating reminds me of sites where you’d have to register first, in order to view content. If you’re not familiar with “like gating” it’s the process in which brands block content (typically custom tabs) from Facebook users who haven’t liked the brand page first.
Sure, having a Facebook account means that you’ve already...

Interest Graph vs. Social Graph
A GigOM article titled, “So What Comes After Social Commerce?…” linked me over to a really interesting post about our Interest & Social Graphs. After reading the latter article it starts to become very clear how the graphs we started creating since being online will start to affect eCommerce in a whole different way than what Amazon is doing. Neither is better than each...

Like vs Recommend (Facebook Sharing)
More websites need to apply ‘Recommend’ buttons instead of ‘Like’ buttons. Although I may like articles the majority of the time and find the like button appropriate, there are other instances where it seems weird that I like an article of someone passing, or a major global catastrophe. While some websites offer up recommend buttons or offer both like & recommend...

The Facebook Passport & Your Data
To me, Facebook has reached its peaked. Already integrated within several of our societies, mobile phones, cars, and reason for hope, there’s zero innovation left. Zero territory for it to conquer. If it does land anywhere “new” it’ll just be an separate adaptation of where it’s already been. All of that is not a bad thing, though -but I can imagine how tricky...

Thank you, Google
I am all the multiple ways to articulate who a geeky dude is. I love technology from every single aspect, good and bad. I might get made fun of, or I might be a resource, but at the end of the day it’s who I am and there’s no shying away from it. Every now and then I have these profound ah-ha moments. It’s either during a big gadget announcement / leak or during an instance where...
Mobile Scanning for Shoppers
I wish I can tell everyone that QR codes, JagTag, Microsoft Tags and other mobile scanning technologies are the answer to this connection from print-to-web. The harsh reality is that it’s not quite there yet. Of the top three technologies, I think JagTag offers the best user-experience simply because you don’t need to install any mobile software on your smartphone. To top that off,...

Facebook Social Commenting Plug-In
Essentially, it’s a great tool to see who are actual reputable commenters and who are just trolls. If you’ve been on Digg or have access to “Facebook Questions” it’s very similar how you can vote-up or bury responses (see here for an example: http://www.facebook.com/questions/permalink.php?qid=10100178326349369&t=1&keep_objects=1).

NFC Technology
I can’t get enough of this technology and how it’s ready to rock the world. Sure, it’s not mainstream yet but it’s slowly becoming an upfront item for Apple, Android, RIM and wireless carriers in the US. When you talk about closing the loop from discovery to purchase, NFC (IMHO) is the answer.
A great source of info is http://www.nearfieldcommunicationsworld.com. They...

Technology in the new year
2010 was a great year for technology. New updates to the Apples’ i-series of products, Android blew up, TV’s got smarter, and social became social-er. The upcoming evolution of products that either grew up in 2010 or were simply born in 2010 is very exciting for me. Additionally, the unknown products that are due to introduced in 2011 are pretty neat as well. That said, here are some...

Is the web dead?
Wired rocked the interblogs when it published their “The Web is Dead” article. It was written really well, explaining what happened & why. While I’m on the fence, I have to think that the web will never die, however, what we will see is websites adapting to the way mobile applications look, and to some degree, work.
(Update: at the time of writing this original article, Sep...

Video Phone Communication
iPhone’s front facing camera certainly rekindled the dream of when I was a little kid, video phone capability. Initially, I scratched my head and wondered why this hadn’t been a feature in phones before, at least before the iOS4. The hardware was certainly there, but obviously it’s all about carriers and bandwidth. Video conferencing over WiFi just makes sense, higher bandwidth,...

Forrester Report + Facebook's LBS Announcement =...
As if almost scripted to be a perfect litmus test of how powerful Facebook truly is let’s consider this crazy, possibly cynical, perspective I have on the timing of the potential announcement from Facebook tomorrow.
If all the blogs are right, which let’s be honest with ourselves for a second, they’re pretty accurate, Facebook is launching some sort of location-based service...
Tumblr App for Android (1st Impressions)
Basic UI, can’t say that I’ll be using this that much but it’s nice. Needs some sort of widget, or quick launcher to a text, link, photo, etc… The dashboard should probably contain more postings or do that automatic loading as you reach the bottom of the page, sorta what the Android Market does… gives it some sort of “infinite scroll” feel. It’s...

Facebook Questions - Initial Thoughts...
A while back someone said Facebook is swallowing the Internet. “Ha,” I said. I just got invited to be part of Facebook Questions and I gotta say, Facebook certainly wants to be your portal for E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G.
At quick glance I noticed the area used for your status update is now replaced with a new “Ask Question” link. It does not default to display the text field with...
